Holiday homes come into their own in the Spring. Here’s how to shake winter off and embrace the start of the holiday season

Spring is always an uplifting time of the year, but for holiday home owners, spring is supercharged: parks come alive again, light floods in our windows, and we’re reminded why we chose a lifestyle that keeps us close to nature. This makes Spring the perfect time to give our long-neglected outdoor living space a spruce-up, as we’re finally able to daydream about the summer months to come.

Everything you need to make the winter walks happen!

Here are three super-simple ways to give your outside space a refresh, with no builders or pesky park permissions required!

  1. Create An Outdoor Living Room…

…complete with carpet, standard lamp and cushions. I love the interiors trend for outdoor living rooms that mimic the cosy comfort of indoors, but with items designed for outdoor living. I suggest starting with an outdoor rug. Ruggable’s weatherproof range is wonderful; I love the way their Outdoor Ranier Copper Sage Rug (£269, ruggable.co.uk) resembles an antique Persian rug yet is rugged enough for outdoor living. Next, add a quirky standard lamp. Fatboy’s Edison The Giant (fatboy.co.uk) is an investment at  £599, but it is a true statement piece. Add some outdoor oversize floor cushions, like the Scenario range from La Redoute (£15.99, laredoute.co.uk) and you’ve got a cosy living room, under the sky.

  1. Have Fun With Foldables

By outdoor foldables, I mean parasols and windbreaks, foldable outdoor items that can be stashed away when not in use. I particularly love Olpro’s affordable camping equipment (olproshop.com), and they have a great range of windbreaks, from the pleasingly retro to fun photographic prints. For parasols, Dunelm (dunelm.com) have a great line, but I’m a sucker for Oliver Bonas’s (oliverbonas.com) blue and white fan print parasol.

  1. Invest In Inflatables

If you thought inflatable or fillable furniture was automatically junk, think again. The Fillup Club (thefillupclub.com) has sculptural, sexy inflatable loungers, chairs and daybeds, that look worth of a Six Senses Spa. And yet they get round park regulations and can be deflated and stashed away in the cotton bag when not in use. I’m a particular fan of the round cocoon daybeds (£599) which can even be used as a floatable in a swimming pool or lake, depending on your proximity to water.
