We have a few valuable tips to help you out!
In the third refurbishment feature of our series, Bella Brodie takes another look at the park home marketplace to reveal more ways to improve your park home or lodge.
Whatever you are thinking of doing to give your home a bit of a refresh, it’s important to use businesses with a specific understanding of park or leisure homes. In this feature, we’ve touched on contractors we would be pleased to recommend, along with a few more that are new to us to let you know what they do!
KEEPING YOUR HOME AT THE RIGHT TEMPERATURE
We have been very impressed Parkhouse Air Conditioning, and they can make a massive difference to both your heating costs and the level of comfort in your home. It’s not just about keeping the home cool, their units can add heat too, which might mean you don’t have to have the rest of your heating up if you just want the odd burst of warmth. A friendly and approachable team, they get rave reviews from their customers, and work hard to retain the visual integrity of any home they work on – so expect them to be polite, efficient and neat in their work, as we hear nothing but good about them!

HOME HEALTH CHECKS
While thinking about the condition of your home, an intermittent ‘health check’ on your home will give you peace of mind that you have no problems developing. That should always be a firm that specialises in park homes and lodges, so it is completely ‘au fait’ with construction methods and common issues.
Matthew Gibbs of Clear View Park Home Surveyors said; “Depending on the age of your property, it may be worth scheduling and budgeting for a health check survey every few years. For the sake of a couple of hundred pounds, you’ll know you’re on top of any potential issues early and that early intervention can help make sure that minor issues don’t turn into costly repair jobs further down the line. For a property older than 20 years, I’d recommend that’s done every three to five years.”Clear View are not just surveyors with an enviable industry reputation, they can carry out refurbishment work too.
YOU CAN’T IMPROVE ON EXCELLENCE!
A dedicated refurbishment company with an excellent reputation is Prestige Developments, who are widely recognized as the leading refurbishment company in the UK. We’ve spoken to many of their customers over the years who have had stunning makeovers on their homes, and their feedback is always glowing. From the less visible issues such as a chassis service, cavity wall insulations and re-tiling and roof work, their services also extend to the more obviously visible work, such as replacement windows and doors, fascias and guttering repairs and replacement, porches and extensions and full refurbishments.
One thing we’ve noticed with Prestige Developments is that they have a particularly good eye for making homes look like new, so not only do they take care of all the practical requirements but they are masters at making the finished aesthetic look outstanding and up todate, too. So, you may find that your refurbishment goes way beyond treating yourself to an upgrade and taking care of any practical niggles, but should also have a significantly positive impact on the value of your home. If there’s ever a win, win argument for updating your home, they definitely make that an easy decision.
INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE IS ESSENTIAL
We’ve also spent time with Park Home & Lodge Specialists, who are based in Lincolnshire but also work nationwide. They have extensive experience across the industry, and as park owners, they know that if a job needs doing, it needs doing properly.
THE FINAL TOUCHES INDOORS
There’s nothing more exciting than giving your home a showhome feel indoors, and if you’d like to do that but don’t know where to start, then Dress Pack Solutions would be a great port of call. With decades of industry experience under their belts, they dress a lot of the homes as they launch at shows, and work with parks to dress their show homes and lodges, but they do work with homeowners too. They can create a bespoke staging pack tailored to your home and tastes, and refreshing your home this way can actually save you money thanks to their buying power. We’d probably recommend you set a budget and a brief and let them do the hard work of giving your home a visual uplift in a way that lets them loose to deliver something really special. They can either come and dress your home for you, or can package it all up with instructions for you on how to lay it out. We think that’s a brilliant service and can imagine that unboxing your new interior would be incredibly exciting! Again, having seen the results of their hard work over the years at shows and out on parks, we’ve never seen an interior décor scheme they’ve delivered that we’ve not loved, they always transform the ordinary into something quite extraordinary. While we’re thinking about it, this might make a fantastic early present to yourselves if you can’t think what to do for Christmas!

DON’T FORGET THE OUTSIDE SPACE
Whether you’re in a residential park home or own a holiday lodge, you’ll want to make the most of your outdoor space, and we have seen some stunning park home gardens over the years.
Relative newcomers to the park home marketplace, Vuestro Furniture specializes in outdoor grills, where the seating and table area actually incorporates the grill really neatly. That would be quite a talking point if you like having friends and family over for barbeques, and although they’re not cheap, they are easier to clean than rattan furniture and will last much, much longer. The best bit is that no one has to stand up and cook throughout, as you all cook your own, with drinks on tap in the built-in chiller if you choose to have that too. Gone will be the days of having to muster up energy to have guests round as you’ll be able to sit down throughout!
ARE YOU WELL DECKED OUT?
If you haven’t already got an outside space suitable for chilling out in, you might want to consider adding a decking area. You may want to carefully consider what you built that with though, as the last thing you want is anyone slipping over, and you won’t want to have to replace it anytime soon either. The WJ Group manufactures and installs cost-effective and sustainable modular, timber decking areas for park and holiday homes, customizable for any space. The decking areas use anti-slip decking boards, providing safe year-round use, and these come in a range of colours and timber species. They supply directly to homeowners and park owners, and offer a fast turnaround for minimal disruption. So, you could be enjoying a meal out on the decking before you know it!
