Cadac, well known for their portable BBQs, have recently expanded their product line again. We had the opportunity to test one of their latest offerings, the ‘Citi Chef 40 Sky Blue’.Right off the bat, the quality of the product stands out—it’s exceptionally well-made. Assembly was fairly simple, taking only a short while, and the unit feels solid and stable. Its lightweight design and carry case makes it easy to move around; perfect for balconies, verandahs, patios or taking to the beach.
Its size also makes it ideal for smaller spaces, catering well to caravan and lodge owners. With a cooking area of 40cm, it provides good grilling space for up to four people. The grill features a ceramic-coated barbecue grill top, an enamelled fat pan, a removable kettle/pot stand, and carry case.
Of interest to me particularly, is the ‘GreenGrill’ – an eco-friendly ceramic coated grill plate. This innovative feature is organic, environmentally friendly, PFOA-free, and non-toxic. The GreenGrill coating is harder and more scratch-resistant than traditional non-stick coatings, while also distributing and retaining heat more efficiently, resulting in lower gas consumption. Cleaning is a breeze – warm soapy water and a soft cloth suffice, or it can be conveniently placed in the dishwasher.
Beyond its cooking prowess, the GreenGrill’s manufacturing process is environmentally conscious, using zero toxic substances and significantly less energy, thereby cutting CO2 emissions in half. It’s a win-win for both grilling enthusiasts and the planet. Not only is the Citi Chef a great choice for small patios or terraces, but it looks very stylish too, which is an absolute must in a small space where you can’t hide it away. And having the option to buy additional accessories that’ll allow you to use it to make other meals like paella, gives unexpected versatility to this compact gas barbecue.
Once the assembly is out of the way, this barbecue is effortlessly easy to use. Just remember to add a gas fitting to the online basket before you checkout.
