We recently got in touch with Andy at ShadeZone to find out more about his company and his range of top quality awnings and canopies.
NACO: Can you tell us a bit about your company?
ANDY: Shade Zone was established in 2007 and has successfully been trading now for 15 years. We were originally established to supply smoking shelters, since then we have grown into a national company suppling outdoor alfresco solutions across the UK to the domestic and commercial market.
NACO: Where are you based and where do you cover?
ANDY: Our new showroom is based in Hull, covering the UK. We supply all kinds of homes and businesses across the UK, from schools, colleges and universities, cafés, restaurants and bars, to hotels, theme parks and family holiday destinations.
NACO: What is your bestselling product?
ANDY: We are finding our freestanding flat roof canopies with rotating louvered or full retractable roofs. Our single systems can span upto 7.5m x 6m, which can also be coupled to cover larger areas. Adding side elements such as glass or retractable screens, heating and lighting you can expand your outdoor dining or entertainment areas throughout the year.
NACO: What is trending for 2022?
ANDY: For many reasons the trend is still all about taking the inside, outside. Whether that means outdoor dining with the benefit of being under cover or taking it to the next level with outdoor kitchens and bars to entertain your friends and family. Keeping warm and dry outside in all weather means that we continue to see investment by customers in their outside space.
NACO: What might be your No. 1 recommendation for holiday homeowners?
ANDY: We have just the thing! Our new ‘Velarium’ freestanding manually operated retractable canopy. Ideal for shade and rain protection, perfect for covering decking or over your hot tub. Constructed from sturdy 120mm aluminum box section frame with a PVC flame retardant cover which can with stand up to 100km winds. There’s also the option to choose from a variety of frame and fabric colours.
NACO: Has the trend in outdoor entertaining been good for you guys?
ANDY: I know this has been a very difficult times for the leisure industry and especially the hospitality sector and we had seen a large dip in sales and enquiries in 2020 early 2021. Whereas the domestic market was completely the opposite for sun shade and rain protection for the home. However since May/June 2021 we have seen large interest from the commercial market requiring coverage for their restaurant and bars.
NACO: Do you have anything new and exciting for 2022?
ANDY: Yes! We are excited to announce our new Showroom! This will see us showcasing the ‘Renson Louvered Camargue’ canopy, ‘Gibus’ lean-to retractable canopy and the all new glass ‘Terrazza Pure’ glass system, along with a selection of awnings. We also have a brand-new website combining 4 different product streams into one large customer-friendly website. We hope to sign up more outlets in the new year with showroom models across the county.
